Autobiographical Game

Description

Shoot through all the obstacles to escape to the freedom of an evening-cycle in the park.
Shooting objects increases points while getting hit decreses them.

This game is a playful depiction of my struggles with two things– the challenge of grasping the process-oriented nature of the practice of design and my attention deficit nature.
Through the game, the player battles to trust his process while battling all the distractions that beset him. For a person like me who hasn't been initiated into a process-oriented practice of not starting out with a definite outcome, this can become daunting. The reward being one of my favorite pastimes– cycling around the city.

Design Process

I decided to layer multiple forms of expression into my game. Particularly my struggles with process based work and my usual attention deficit in doing it.

Reflection

This game helped me understand classes and objects, as well as using the push(), pop() and splice() functionalities for javascript objects. Creating this game was also somewhat of a cathartic experience for me, where I could give expression to my personal experience.

Credits

Sean's lab classes and exercises discussed on Classes and Objects, along with Katherine's and Xin's tutorials helped me a lot with this assignment.
